Guirdolim Club refutes allegation

GUIRDOLIM: Guirdolim Club, President Patwin Fizardo in his letter responding to Fredsan Marshall’s allegation stated that after completing the race, Fredsan met with a minor accident when he took a wrong turn, ended on the wrong road and that too on the wrong side/lane.
“As per the Dy Collectors order permitting us to conduct the race which is held on a public road, only one lane of the road can be used for the race and the other lane has to be kept open for traffic. As has been the tradition for the last many years we had taken all precautions and the police who were assisting us had made sure that the same lanes that we block every year were blocked to allow the participants to finish properly,” added Patwin.
“Fredsan participated in this race in the past for 4 years and he clearly knew the procedure that was followed for all these years but chose to take a wrong turn,” Patwin further added.
“After the valedictory function the executive committee had an emergency meeting to discuss Fredsan’s  demand for compensation. It was the opinion of the committee members that since Fredsan had signed a declaration prior to the race stating that “he is aware that the race track is a Public road on which other vehicles ply and that he himself is responsible for his own safety” and secondly “He is participating at his own Risk”, so no compensation shall be awarded to Fredsan Marshall”, concluded Fizardo.
