PANJIM: Guirdolim Club registered a fluent 3-1 win over Varca Sports Club in the GFA Second Division League which saw both teams’ their players receiving red in the second half, at Astro Turf ground, Fatorda, on Saturday.
Guirdolim Club took an early lead through Safik Shaikh in the 4th minute.
In the 16th minute, Frazer Fernandes doubled the account for the winning side.
Stung by the reverse, Varca SC fought back and managed to pull a goal back through Columbus Noronha in the 28th minute. Guirdolim led 2-1 at the break.
Crossing over, the match turned intense as one team fought to get the equaliser while the other tried to inflate their lead.
At the hour mark, Guirdolim’s Akash Jadhav went into the referee’s book for rough play.
Nine minutes later both the teams saw red. Guirdolim’s Frazer and Varca’s Nash Dias and S Sadekar were all sent off.
Taking the numerical advantage, Guirdolim made the issues safe in the 85th minute when Chadel Fernandes scored the third for Guirdolim.
