PARODA: Guirdolim Sports Club registered a 4-0 win over Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club to enter the semi-finals of the Fr Agnelo Youth Inter-Village football tournament, organised by Fr Agnelo Youth Sports Club, Paroda and played at Panchayat ground, Avedem, Quepem on Monday.
Guirdolim Sports Club held the upper hand especially in the first session with their forwards and mid-fielders working in tandem to put the rival defence into disarray.
Their persistent raids bore fruits in the 14th minute when Mario Fernandes received a pass from his teammate and the former scored with ease.
Second goal was scored by Alton Vaz through a penalty which was the result of a rough tackle by Cruz Fernandes of Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club.
Frazer Gomes and Agnes Vas also added their names to the score sheet.
All goals were scored in the first half.
Post resumption Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club tried their level best to come back into the game but failed to get past the rival rear guard.
Guirdolim SC had their chances to inflate their lead but their strikers failed to keep their composure in front of the rival goal.
