MAPUSA: GVM’s SNJA Higher Secondary School, Ponda, created a record winning the State chess championship for boys under-19 for the third time in-a-row defeating Mushtifund Higher Secondary School, Cujira, 3-1 at Miramar.
St Xavier’s HSS, Mapusa, defeated Shree Mallikarjun HSS, Canacona, 4-0 for the third place.
In the girls under-19, Shree Damodar HSS, Margao, defeated Shri Shantadurga HSS, Bicholim, 3-1.
The third place was awarded to Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Panjim, as Govt Higher Secondary School, Sanguem, did not turn up.
