A late penalty in the injury time earned HAL a much needed point as their home match against Chirag United ended 1-1 in the I-League here on Sunday.
Chirag, with the help of Josimar da Silva Martins’ strike was all set to romp home three valuable away points until the penalty deprived them.
Josimar gave Chirag the opener. The equaliser came when everyone accepted another defeat for the home team. Sukhen Dey’s hard tackle brought down a HAL forward on the ground. Referee Bikramjit Purakayashtha made no mistake in awarding the penalty and RC Prakash too made no mistake in converting it.
Chirag coach, Sanjay Sen rued how senseless was the tackle that cost his team two points.
HAL manager Muralidharan was happy after getting a point from this match.
