RAIA: Chandrawaddo Boys, Fatorda, blanked Rosary Boys, Davorlim, 3-0 to move in the quarter-finals of 4th All-Goa Inter-Village Open Football tournament organised by Davorlim Sports and Cultural Club, at Davorlim Club ground, Laymati, on Sunday.
Minguel Barreto of Chandrawaddo Boys gave through pass to Elroy Barreto, whose left footer crushed into the net in the 26th minute.
Changing over, Rosary Boys wasted many opportunities that came in their way through Patson Gomes, Agnelo Colaco and Prince Figueredo in the 36th, 40th and 43rd minutes of play, while Chandrawaddo Boys increased the lead in 45th minute through Hanshlum Furtado, whose header landed in the goal beating Rosary Boys’ goalkeeper Francisco Colaco which was well fed by Francisco Andrade.
In the dying minutes of the game, Hanshlum Furtado completed his brace with a well-connected volley from the box to seal the fate of Rosary Boys.
Earlier, the tournament was declared open by Laxikanth Mangueskar, social worker and football lover in presence of Police Inspector Filomeno Costa and Caitano Costa, president of Davorlim Club.
