Hayden treble helps Dempo Jrs maul St Savio’s SC

Despite Aniket’s early goal for the Calangute team, the Panjim side scored four goals through Hayden’s hat-trick and a late Jesus’ strike

MAPUSA: Dempo Juniors scored a big 4-1 win over St Savio’s SC Calangute, in the GFA Second Division play-off match played at Duler Stadium, here on Monday.
Calangute broke the deadlock through Aniket Mandrekar who charged into the rival citadel before slotting the ball home, 1-0.
Couple of minutes later Dempo managed to restore parity through Hayden Fernandes who brilliantly curled in a corner kick.
At the brink of halftime, Hayden netted in his brace through a long range effort, 2-1.
Changing ends Dempo pumped in two more goals with Jesus D’Souza scoring from inside the 18-yard box while Hayden completed his hat-trick, 4-1.
With GFA headquarters failing to inform to the print media with regards to the fixtures, the turnout for the match was extremely poor.
Today’s encounter between Dempo Juniors and St Savio’s was apparently the postponed match of April 1 which was slated to be held at Poriat ground Calangute. 
While the match on April 1 never took place, there was a role reversal on Monday.
Gregory Estrocio who is allotted the task of appointing the referees said that with regards the match he was informed as late as 12.00 pm on Monday, but he still managed to struggle and gather the required match officials.
