PANJIM: Luck didn’t shine on Team Herald despite dominating the entire match, they lost via toss against Lokmat after the match was tied 4-4 at the end of sudden death in the inter-media 9-a-side football tournament organised by Sports Journalists Association of Goa in collaboration with Don Bosco Oratory, GFDC and Sporting Clube de Goa, at Don Bosco Oratory ground, on Thursday.
Lokmat led at half-time by virtue of Siddhesh Vernekar’s goal, however, in a game wherein Herald had the most ball possession failed to convert until the last minute of the game as Lisvan Rodrigues netted the equaliser for his team taking them into the tie-breaker.
Lokmat proved lucky on toss against Herald after both teams were locked 4-4 at the end of sudden-death.
In another match, Times of India edged out a fighting Fomento Media by a solitary goal in the quarter-finals.
Keshav Naik scored the all-important goal early in the second half. Fomento fought hard to get back into the contest, but Times defended resolutely to emerge victors. They will clash with Navhind Publications in the first semi-finals on Friday.
Times of India, Lokmat and Tarun Bharat entered the semi-finals.
