Herald, Pudhari to battle for title today

PANJIM: Man-of-the-match Yatin Bakhale ensured Herald’s entry into the finals of Inter Media Cricket tournament organised by Sports Journalists Association of Goa for late Vijay Gad Rolling Trophy, at Campal ground, on Thursday.
In the finals, Herald earned the right to battle against Pudhari for supremacy to be played on March 28, at 9.30 a.m.
In the semi-final, Herald winning the toss sent Electronic Media XI to bat first. They scored 64 runs losing five wickets in 10 overs. For Herald, Shailesh stole the limelight claiming two wickets and was ably support by Amit and Prashant, who took one wicket each. 
In reply, Herald’s batsman Yatin Bakhale rattled the opponent bowlers and gave no chance to improve their performance by remaining 48 n.o. Despite an injury suffered during bowling, Goankar too stood strong on the crease with Yatin and remained 13 n.o., claiming a 10-wicket victory.
In another semi-final, Pudhari demolished Prudent by 10 wickets. Batting first, Prudent scored 56 for 6. Adhik 13, Lakshraj N.O. 15.
In reply, Pudhari managed to score 57 runs easily with no loss. Vishal Melekar n.o. 37, Harshad n.o. 14. Man-of-the-match Vishal Melekar. 
Earlier, in the quarter-finals, brief scores:  Prudent defeated Times of India by 17 runs. Prudent 90 for 2. Avinash 17, Adhik 27, Niraj 13 n.o., Lakshraj 16 n.o.
Times of India 74 for 4. Abhay S. 21, Girish M 25. Lakshraj S 2­11. Man-of-the-match: Ahdik.
Herald defeated Sunaparant by 69 runs. Herald for 115 for 1. Goankar n.o. 44, Shailesh n.o. 52. Sunaparant 46. Man-of-the-match Shailesh Zantye.
Director of Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs V. M. Prabhudessai and Senior Vice President of Goa Cricket Association Dr Shekhar Salkar will grace the prize distribution function.
