MUGALLI: Holy Cross Boys, Boreawaddo defeated FC Mugalli 4-2 in the final of the FC Mugalli Trophy organized by FC Mugalli, at Fernandes ground, on Sunday.
The teams displayed attacking football as Preston Vaz opened the account for Holy Cross Boys in the very third minute.
Thereafter, FC Mugalli equalized through Nevil Fernandes in the 17th minute. Crossing over, Preston doubled the lead for Holy Cross in the 47th minute while Alviton Silva scored a brace for Holy Cross Boys in the 49th and 51st minutes. Jeston made it 2-4 for FC Mugalli in the 54th minute.
The winners took home Rs 10,000 and a trophy while the runners-up received Rs 7,000 and a trophy.
The following individual prizes were awarded to Best player of the final: Raymond Fernandes (FC Mugalli), Best goalkeeper of the tournament: Mario (Holy Cross Boys, Menezes Bhat), Best defender of the final: Anthony Viegas (FC Mugalli); Upcoming Player of the tournament: Sezwin Fernandes (FC Mugalli); Best goalkeeper of the Final: Melston Vaz of Holy Cross; Best midfielder of the final: Cheston Gomes (Holy Cross Boys, Boreiwado).
MLA of Velim Constituency, Benjamin Silva was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of other dignitaries and club officials.
