MAPUSA: Holy Cross Sports Club, Arambol booked their berth in next season’s Second Division league by getting the better of Guirim Youth and Cultural Club 4-3 via the tie-breaker in the semi-finals of GFA’s 3rd Division football league Bardez zone play-off at Sangolda ground, Monday.
After a barren 90 minutes the tie had to be settled in the penalty shoot-out where Arambol kept their cool and scored through Amit, Jose, Vitorino and Jason while Philino and Viraj converted for Guirim with Macxy and Noel being denied by the Arambol custodian.
Paradise thump Nauxim: Paradise Sports Club trounced Nauxim Sports Club 3-0 in the Ilhas zone Third Division matches at Dr Remigio Pinto ground, Taleigao.
After a goalless first session, Paradise broke the deadlock in the first minute of the second half through Anthony Correira’s deft placement.
Three minutes later, they were awarded a penalty which was coolly converted by Newton Azavedo. Newton then registered his brace in the 77th minute to make it 3-0.
Meanwhile at the St Cruz ground, Cabesa Sports Club edged past Aivao United Sports Club by a solitary goal.
