Holy Spirit Institute emerge U-17 State winners

PANJIM: Holy Spirit Institute, Margao got the better of Lourdes High School Valpoi, 4-1 in the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs (DSYA) U-17 school football tournament state final match, at Taleigao ground on Monday.
The Holy Spirit team began on an impressive note as they dictated pace from the middle.
 The Holy Spirit boys moved the ball from end-to-end and displayed great composure keeping possession of the ball for long spells.  
All the three goals for the winning team were scored in the first half through the boots of Mevan Dias, Arnold Oliveira and Pushkar Prabhu 3-0. Few minutes before the lemon break Holy Spirit conceded one goal through a penalty kick by Sanchil Pokle.
Crossing over, Holy Spirit continued their dominance with the same rhythm. Substitute player, Tahir Sheikh inflated the lead as he converted a penalty few minutes before the final whistle.
Earlier in the South District final, Holy Spirit Institute, Margao beat Pope John XXIII, High School, Quepem 5-0 to emerge winners in the south district U-17 boy’s football tournament at the AstroTurf football ground, Fatorda.
