FATORDA: Holy Spirit Institute, Margao, Fr Agnel Multipurpose HSS, Verna and OL of Rosary HS, Fatorda booked their place in the quarter-finals of the U-17 Subroto Mukherjee inter-school Salcete Taluka football tournament organised by DSYA, at Astroturf ground – Fatorda, on Tuesday.
Holy Spirit Institute defeated OL of Succour HS, Nagoa 4-0. Tahir Shaikh scored a superb hat-trick in the 8th, 40th & 50th minutes while Richard Carvalho added a goal in the 20th minute.
In the second match, Fr Agnel Multipurpose HSS, Verna blanked Govt. Multipurpose HSS, Borda 3-0. Caine Moura, Zuber Sayed and Alroy Fernandes were the scorers.
OL of Rosary HS, Fatorda also made it to the last eight stage of the tournament with a solitary goal win over St Mary’s HS, Varca.
The all important goal was scored in the 48th minute by Breden Barbosa.
Meanwhile in the U-17 girls category, at village school ground, Cuncolim, Rosary HS, Navelim scored a fluent 4-0 win over Maria Bambino Convent HS, Cuncolim. Diksha Ahirwar scored a brace while Muskan Kambli & Divya Chavanke scored a goal each.
In the second match, Manovikas EHS scored a 4-2 tie-breaker win over Holy Spirit Institute after the match ended in goalless draw.
