Holy Trinity, St Sebastian in final

MARGAO: Holy Trinity trounced St John the Baptist 3-0 to enter the final of the Benaulim Youth Inter-Sector Football tournament, organized by Prime Sports Club, at St John the Baptist ground, Dando-Benaulim, on Sunday.

MARGAO: Holy Trinity trounced St John the Baptist 3-0 to enter the final of the Benaulim Youth Inter-Sector Football tournament, organized by Prime Sports Club, at St John the Baptist ground, Dando-Benaulim, on Sunday.
Holy Trinity were the dominant side and went ahead in the 17th minute when Mackenzie Rodrigues put Sunny Rodrigues through on the right flank to cross in the box where striker Clinton Fernandes slammed the ball past the rival goal keeper John Hera.
After the change of ends, St John the Baptist tried hard for the equalizer with Grayfans Popu and Jaison Pereira working hard but Holy Trinity defenders sustained the pressure and netted the second with midfielder Sunny Rodrigues firing in from just outside the area in the 29th minute.
The winners made sure of the victory in the closing stages when substitute striker Lorry Fernandes taped in following a poor clearance by John Hera.
In the second semi-finals, St Sebastian sector registered a solitary goal victory over Our Lady of Patrocinio sector to book their place in the final. 
Skipper Joseph Fernandes netted the all-important winner for St Sebastian sector when a free-kick from Greto Fernandes was nicely laid by Jackson Fernandes for Joseph to push in from inside the box. The final is slated on September 13.
