MAPUSA: Hosts Augustias Sporting Club, Pomburpa entered the semi-finals with a 5-3 win via the tie-breaker, held at Pomburpa ground, here, on Tuesday.
The teams were locked in a 1-1 draw at the end of the regulation time.
Sachidanand Satelkar scored for Saligao in the 5th minute. Soham Satelkar’s short was saved by Augustias goalkeeper Joystan Lobo from close range.
Augustias mounted pressure in the second half and their efforts bore fruits as Saligao keeper Inaction Menezes made an error by shooting the ball in his own net.
In the resultant tie-breaker, Augustias proved better shooters with Abraham Fernandes, Akash Parwar, Rupesh Patil, Joystan Lobo and Rohan Naik on traget while Sachidanand Satelkar, Shivanand Naik and Nelson Monteiro scored for Saligao. Tarak Kankonkar’s short was saved by Rohan Naik.
Man-of-the-match was Rohan Naik of Augustias Sporting Club and the prize was presented by Michael Serrao, president of Augustias Sporting Club.
