RAIA: Hosts ABC Sports Club, Arambol, edged past Varad 7 4-3 via tie-breaker to clinch the 20th 5-a-side floodlit beach football tournament organised by ABC Sports Club, Arambol, at Arambol beach, recently.
Sahil and Latish scored a goal each for Varad 7 and for ABC Sports Club Dalwin Coelho netted a brace. At the end of regulation time, both teams settled for 2-2 draw.
In the resultant tie-breaker, ABC Sports Club proved to be the better shooters.
The winners took home Rs 20,000 and a trophy, while runners-up Rs 15,000 and a trophy.
In all, 20 teams participated. Individual prizes awarded are: Best discipline team – Mandrem Police and Best Defender – Manuel Rodrigues (ABC Arambol)
Chief guest Inacio D’Souza (chairman of ABC Sports Club), Paul Rodrigues (president of ABC Sports Club) and other dignitaries were present for the final.
