RAIA: Hosts United Sports Club of Seraulim defeated Davorlim Cricketers by 19 runs in the final of All-Goa Inter-Village Cricket Tournament organised by United Sports Club of Seraulim at panchayat ground, Seraulim, recently.
After winning the toss, USC of Seraulim elected to bat and managed to score only 55 runs in the allotted 5 overs. Davorlim Cricketers on the other hand during batting lost wickets at regular intervals and could not score much with USC of Seraulim bowlers going for the attack from the very first over.
Although, Davorlim Cricketers managed to score 11 runs in the first over. It was Nazrulla who came in the bowling attack in second over giving away just three runs and took two wickets. Then, it was Jess who turned out to be the most successful bowler giving away only two runs and taking three wickets which change the game totally in favour of USC of Seraulim during the fourth over.
With 28 runs required in the last over, Sandeep bowled smartly and Davorlim Cricketers managed to score only 9 runs in last over thereby handing over the win to USC of Seraulim. USC of Seraulim top scored through Mukhund Sindhe (16) and Nazrulla (13). While Davorlim Cricketers top scored through Gulbej (10) and Sachin remained not out on 8. Arbaz was the most successful bowler for Davorlim Cricketers taking two wickets and giving away just two runs.
Anil Mashelkar veteran cricket, who has played for MCC Cricket Club, Vijay Cricket Club and represented Goa in the All-India Civil Service Tournament was the chief guest. Special invitees were veteran cricketers Pio Vales, Ruban D’Costa and Joaquim Dias, former panch of VP Seraulim.
The guests gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up. Earlier, Policarpo Cruz, president of the club welcomed the guest and later proposed a vote of thanks.
