PANJIM: HSIDC scored comfortable straight sets 25-20, 25-18 and 25-22 victory over Indian Bank, Chennai to qualify for the CSB Champions Trophy in the 2nd All India Volleyball Championship organised by Cuncolim Union, at Cuncolim floodlit court on Thursday.
HSIDC with a star-studded set of internationals in their ranks looked in great touch as they won the first set 25-20 and went on to win the second set more comfortably on 25-18. Despite a good fight back in the third set by the Indian Bank , the script didn’t change as HSIDC went on to win it in straight sets.
HSIDC Captain Sube Singh along with Laumeet Singh excelled for the winners.
Laumeet was simply outstanding in the service. Indian Bank, which had created major upset defeating favourites Kerala Police on Wednesday, disappointed the crowd with an insipid display. P. Thangaraj was the lone shinning star for Chennai team which still has an outside chance to qualify for the final.
