PANJIM: IM Nitish Belurkar of Goa was crowned the champion at Satish Anna All India Open Rapid Chess tournament held at Belgaum, Karnataka.
Nitish remained undefeated scoring 8.5 points out of 9 with 8 wins and 1 draw. Among others, Nitish defeated FM Ritviz Parab of Goa, CM Karthik Sai Ch of Hyderabad and drew with IM Sammed Shete of Kolhapur.
Sailesh R of Chennai won the second place with 8 points. FM Ritviz Parab of Goa was placed third with 7.5 points while other Goan players, Mandar Lad and Rishikesh parab were placed 9th and 18th with 7 points and 6.5 points respectively.
In the age group category too, Goan players who garnered prizes were Asmita Ray, first prize U-14, Mayuresh Desai, third prize U-14, Shourya Pednekar, fourth prize U-16, Shresth Ghonsekar, fifth prize U-8 and Arthav Shirodker, 10th prize U-10.
