PANJIM: India played a spirited game against Portugal to hold them in a goalless draw and make it to the semi-final of Expo 2014 Unity World Cup football league match, at Lal Bhadhur Shastri Stadium, Hyderabad, on Tuesday.
Nigeria plays India in the first semi-final while Portugal take on Colombia in the other semi-final.
India played to a plan and did not allow the strong Portuguese attack to penetrate into their defence as the ball was restricted to the midfield.
Nigeria having already qualified for the semi-final went into their match against Uzbekistan with full confidence and defeated their opponents 6-0.
In an interesting match played between Brazil and Ghana, at the Bengaluru Football Stadium, the South American Nation defeated Ghana 4-2.
Marcelo of Brazil scored a brace in the seventh and 58th minutes. The 23rd minute saw Valmir scoring while Lucas closed the tally in the 62nd minute.
The 1st semi-final will be played between India and Nigeria on December 11, at Raia Panchayat ground, at 7 p.m.
League leaders Portugal will play Colombia in the second semi-final on December 12, at 7 p.m.
