CURCHOREM: Guardian Angel Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (IHMCT), Curchorem, hosted the All Goa Inter Diploma Sports (IDS) of the Directorate of Technical Education, Goa State carrom and chess tournaments in their premises, recently.
Six institutions participated in the tournament and the Institute of Shipbuilding Technology Vasco were the winners and Angel polytechnic, Verna were runners-up of the chess tournament in the boys category while in the girls category Agnels Polytechnic, Verna and Guardian Angel IHMCT were the winners and runners-up respectively.
In the carrom tournament, which was conducted in association with Goa Carrom Association, Angel Institute of Food Craft and Culinary Science, Verna clinched the first place and Government Polytechnic, Panjim settled for runners-up in the boys category. In the girls’ category, the host Guardian Angel IHMCT, Curchorem won the Championship by defeating Institute of Shipbuilding Technology, Vasco.
The individual carrom event, Swena Satyavan Ghatwal from Institute of Shipbuilding Technology, Vasco defeated Tasneem Shaikh of Government Polytechnic, Curchorem in the girls category and in the boys category, Velroy Niasso from Angel Institute of Food Craft and Culinary Science, Verna defeated Vishwanath Waghamode of Government Polytecnic, Panjim.
Fr. Anthony D’ Silva, former Provincial Superior of Goa Province of the Society of Pilar and ex-General Treasurer of Society of Pilar was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of Fr Joaquim Rebello, Principal of IHMCT, members of Goa Carrom Association and IDS Managers of all participating Institutions.
