MAPUSA: Sporting Clube de Goa will lock horns with Salgaocar FC in a Round 18 I-League football match at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Monday, at 3.45 p.m.
Both Goan teams will look to clinch three points and escape the threat of relegation. Sporting and Salgaocar have collected 14 points each from 16 matches but are at the 12th and 10th position respectively due to a better goal average by The Green Brigade.
“Our preparations are normal and we don’t face any injury concerns as Luciano Sabrosa is now fit to play,” said Salgaocar coach David Booth
Salgaocar were impressive in their last home tie against Mohun Bagan defeating the Mariners 2-0, thanks to two debut goals by Nigerian Gabriel Obatola and Brazilian Josimar Da Silva who were backed by their third signing Singaporean John Wilkinson who proved to be a driving force for Salgaocar in the midfield.
However, which three foreigners will feature in the starting line-up is no yet finalized informed Booth.
The Flaming Oranje will miss the services of striker Dawson Fernandes and midfielder Joseph Pereira due to injuries.
“Given the importance of the game, we are preparing in all the departments. I’m confident our team will perform although we are missing players due to injuries but that is of no concern at the moment as I have full faith in the players selected for tomorrows tie,” said Sporting head coach Oscar Bruzon.
