ITI Bicholim reign supreme

ITI, Bicholim secured the Director’s Trophy in XIth All-Goa inter-ITI sports competition at SAG ground, Fatorda on Saturday.
In volleyball, ITI, Farmagudi thrashed ITI, Bicholim 3-1 (25-17, 25-19, 24-26, 25-18).
National player Vincent Pereira did well for ITI, Farmagudi.
In cricket, ITI, Vasco got the better of ITI, Bicholim by a narrow 2-run victory. ITI, Vasco scored 69/10 in 12 overs. For ITI, Vasco, Chandrashekar won the man-of-the-match trophy. ITI, Bicholim scored 67/9 in 12 overs.
In football, ITI, Bicholim beat ITI, Margao via the tie-breaker 4-3. The score was goalless at regulation time.
Francisco Cardozo of ITI, Margao saved most of the shots by Bicholim strikers and was adjudged best goalkeeper of the tournament.
In tennikoit singles, ITI, Canacona defeated ITI, Mapusa. In tennikoit doubles, ITI, Cacora, defeated ITI, Pernem.
In relay, ITI, Canacona and ITI, Mapusa emerged winners and runners-up respectively.
In shot put, ITI, Margao won while ITI, Canacona were the runners-up.
In discus throw, ITI, Farmagudi and ITI, Bicholim were the winners and runners-up respectively.
At the closing ceremony at Peddem sports complex, Mapusa, Speaker, Pratapsingh Rane was the chief guest. Vijayadevi Rane was the guest of honour. Chairperson, Bal Bhavan, C P Tripathi, secretary, Craftsmen Training, director, SDCT, Aleixo F Da Costa, IMC chairman, IMC members, principals, staff and trainees from different government and private ITIs were also present.
S S Gaonkar presented the report. D D Joshi welcomed. Edwin Fernandes, principal, ITI, Cacora and co-ordinator, South Zone proposed the vote of thanks.
