South: Canacona v’ball, Farmugudi cricket champions

PANJIM: ITI Panjim swept aside Bicholim in all the three fields viz football, cricket and volleyball at 14th All Goa Inter-ITI Sports Competition organised by State Directorate of Craftsmen Training, at Campal ground, Panjim.
Panjim defeated Bicholim 4-3 via tie-breaker to win the football tourney in the North Zone. In volleyball, they got the better of Bicholim in straight sets 25-22, 25-23 and in cricket defeated Bicholim again by five wickets.
Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza inaugurated the competition in the presence of Gaurish Dhond, IMC Chairman, ITI Panjim, and Aleixo Da Costa.
In the South Zone, SAG ground, Fatorda: In the football semi-finals, Margao got the better of Cacora 8-7 via tie-breaker while in the another ITC Fr Agnel defeated Farmagudi via tie-breaker 4-2 to set up a final showdown with Margao on Saturday.
In the volleyball finals, Canacona trounced Cacora in straight sets 25-16, 25-13.
Farmagudi defeated Margao by 25 runs to win the South Zone cricket final.
Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai was the chief guest at the inaugural function while Aleixo da Costa, State Director, SDCT was the guest of honour.
