BENAULIM: Parish Youth Nuvem edged past SC Davorlim 1-0 to enter the final of 4th St Sebastian trophy football tournament, at St John the Baptist ground Dando-Benaulim, on Wednesday.
Jerose Olieveira was outstanding for the PY Nuvem as the former Vasco SC player scored the only goal of the match in the 48th minute.
Both teams started the match on equal terms. However, PY Nuvem had the first chance of the match in the third minute but Jerose missed the open sitter with only the keeper at his mercy.
Minutes later, Jerose squandered his second opportunity as his close range shot missed the target by whiskers.
At the other end, SC Davorlim had a glorious chance to take the lead in the tenth minute but Vincent Colaco’s move was foiled by Rosario Noronha just before the former could pull the trigger.
Crossing ends, Jerose made amends for his earlier miss as his long range strike gave no chance for the rival keeper to give his team the much deserved lead in the 48th minute
SC Davorlim tried to find the much needed equalizer but Paxton Gomes and Selwyn Miranda’s moves were well intercepted by Meriston Coutinho and Nevis Noronha of Nuvem.
Nuvem will meet the winners of Margao SC and CAC Cansaulim in the finals on August 7.
