Joe fires United FC into semi-finals

SIRIDAO: A fine hat-trick by Joe helped United FC Siridao storm in the semi-finals of the 4th London Cup football tournament, organised by Siridao Sports Club, beating Laxmi Boys Mayem 6-4, at River Plate Siridao ground, on Monday.

SIRIDAO: A fine hat-trick by Joe helped United FC Siridao storm in the semi-finals of the 4th London Cup football tournament, organised by Siridao Sports Club, beating Laxmi Boys Mayem 6-4, at River Plate Siridao ground, on Monday. 
United FC Siridao dominated the match with possession play and took the lead in the eighth minute through Joe, who brilliantly volleyed past the helpless keeper. 
Down by a goal, Mayem tried to find the equaliser and almost scored but Atish’s effort was brilliantly saved by the rival keeper.
At the other end, Siridao doubled the lead through Joe, who scored from the goal mouth melee. Mayem reduced the deficit just before the break through Dattaraj.
Crossing over, Joe scored his team’s third and completed his hat-trick with a sublime finish.
Suffering an early second half blow, Mayem pressed hard to reduce the margin and were awarded a penalty kick when Vishal’s goal bound effort was handled in the Siridao box by the rival defender. However, Chardesh’s spot kick was saved by the rival keeper.
United FC scored three quick goals as Chature netted a brace while Marvin also got on the score sheet.
At the other end, Mayem came back strongly and scored three through Atish, Dattaraj and Chandur but couldn’t draw level.
