PANJIM: ABS Fitness Zone Gym, Chinchinim has started the 2016 bodybuilding season in a stride by winning three bodybuilding contests in a row in February.
Joel Gonsalves harnessed the first place in all three bodybuilding contests. The ABS team comprised of nine bodybuilders namely Dhani Ram Thakur, Rupesh Naik, Pratosh Pirankar, Ashvil Vaz, Khalid Ali, Milton Sequeira, Vishant Gaude, Omkar Dessai and Joel Gonsalves.
The three bodybuilding championships were Patrakar Shree 2016 held on February 14 at Quepem, Mapusa Shree third edition held on February 20 in Mapusa and Goa Shree 2016 held on February 21 at Betalbatim.
In the Patrakar Shree 2016 60 to 65kg Rupesh Naik secured the first place and in the 70 to 75 kg category, Vishant Gaude bagged the second place while Khalid Ali settled for the fifth spot.
In the above 75 kg event, Joel Gonsalves stood first and was conferred the title Champion of Champions.
Their fine run continued at the Mapusa Shree where in the 55 to 60 kg event, Dhani Ram Thakur came fourth and in the 65 to 70 kg category, Pratosh Pirankar came third.
In the 70 to 75 kg, Vishant Gaude was named champion and Milton Sequeira bagged the third spot.
In the 75 kg and above event, Joel Gonsalves stood first and was declared Champion of Champions. The team championship was awarded to ABS Fitness Zone Gym, Chinchinim.
At the Goa Shree 2016, 55 to 60 kg event, Dhani Ram Thakur came fourth and in the 60 to 65 kg, Rupesh Naik settled for the fourth position.
In the 70 to 75 kg, Vishant Gaude emerged top and Milton Sequeira came third. And again, in the 75 kg and above category, Joel Gonsalves stood first to be adjudged Champion of Champions. Vishant Gaude was acknowledged as the Best improved bodybuilder.
Prissco Sequeira, winner of number of State, National and International bodybuilding championships and now a certified instructor had ably trained the award winning team.
