NAVELIM: Clube Sao Miguel de Taleigao registered a solitary goal victory over United Club Telaulim in the Goa Football Association’s First Division League football match, at Rosary ground, here, on Friday.
The match-winner was scored by Jose Rodrigues in the 86th minute.
Both teams played an attacking football and it was United Club Telaulim who had the first go in but Anil Shivolkar after being fed by Kingslee Fernandes, shot straight into the hands of CSM Taleigao goalkeeper in the eighth minute.
At the other end, Devandra Mugaonkar had a chance to score for CSM Taleigao in the 19th minute but his move was foiled by rival defender Alister Gomes.
Thereafter, Gautam Kankonkar and Sherwin had a chance each in the 34th and 36th minutes respectively for CSM Taleigao but both shot wide.
Necil Pinto was left frustrated to see his free-kick hit the CSM Taleigao crossbar and fall back in play in the 43rd minute.
The second half was an exciting battle as the teams tried to make an impact. UC Telaulim’s Anil Shivolkar and Kingslee Fernandes kept the rival defenders on their toes while Gautam and Sherwin worked tirelessly for the visitors.
However, substitute Jose Rodrigues was at his best and eventually scored the all-important goal in the 86th minute with a fine placement coming off his left foot. He was assisted by Sherwin.
