Joshua triumph in Salcete chess

SANGUEM: Joshua Mark Telles of Manovikas School triumphed in the Salcete Taluka School Student’s June 2024 Practice Chess Tournament organised by Chess RCC Fatorda in collaboration with Unique Chess Academy, under the aegis of the Salcete Taluka Chess Association. 

Joshua dominated the tournament, remaining unbeaten with a perfect score of 8 out of 8 points. His victory in the final round came against Vaibhav Kerkar. Satyam Phal (Mahila and Nutan) and Aaryavrat Rasiket Naik Desai (Vidya Vikas Academy) secured the second and third position, respectively.

U-11 boys: Salgaonkar Shaurya, Deepansh Naik. Girls: Asmi Terse, Jensina Sequeira. U-13 boys: Arsekar Naksh, Daksh Meti. Girls: Aarya Naik, Tanishq Uday Naik Dessai. U-15 boys: Sarthak Kavlekar, D’Costa Franscisco Ornelas Earl. Girls: Avni Atul Kamat, Albuquerque Snana.

Best RCC Players: Rochel Pereira, Gaonkar Heramb, Vernon Gomes, Albuquerque Aneisha, Chodankar Gaurik.

Chief guest Director of Chandrakanta Construction and Quepem Taluka Chess Association Secretary Sameer Naik gave away the prizes in the presence of Canacona Taluka Chess Association President Sharendra Naik, Tournament Director IA Sanjay Kavlekar, Chief Arbiter SNA Tanishq Kavlekar, President of Unique Chess Academy Amrut Naik, Arbiter and Secretary of Unique Chess Academy Pretty Mendes and executive member of Salcete Taluka Chess Association Prakash Insulkar.

Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by Secretary of Shri Damodar Vidya Bhavan Jyotendra Naik in the presence of members of Chess RCC Fatorda and Unique Chess Academy.
