In the very first move of the match, Paroda opened the scoring in the fourth minute through a set piece. A free-kick sailed over the Nerul defence and found unmarked Kanchan, who headed powerfully past the rival goalkeeper. Subsequently, they could have scored another after Mackroy set up Melvito in an ideal position, but the latter ballooned over from close range.
Nerul responded quickly and turned in the equalizer in the ninth minute after Stanley skilfully dribbled past a rival defender and sent in a clever through ball to Gautam, who calmly chipped over the onrushing keeper, 1-1.
At other end, Royston Pereira’s scorching 35-yarder was fisted away by Paroda keeper Jovial.
At the half hour mark, Paroda scored their second goal when Mackroy crossed in and Nerul keeper’s clearance fell straight to Kanchan, who made most of the given situation from close range.
In the second session, Paroda held the upper hand as Melvito and Kanchan looked dangerous.
Paroda will now take on Raitura Sports Club in the semi-finals on July 21.
