CALANGUTE: Katreshwar Boys, Bandir Vaddo, Chapora defeated Vagator Boys, Vagator 2-0 in the final of Anjuna-Caisua village inter-ward football tournament organised Anjuna-Kaisuva Youth, Social, Sports and Cultural Club, at panchayat ground, Anjuna.
In an evenly contested match, both the teams played well but it was Katreshwar who had the last laugh scoring two quick goals through Tukaram Khorjuvenkar and Vishnu Narvekar.
Katreshwar Boys were awarded the late Narahari Datta Khorjuvenkar Trophy donated by Sandesh Khorjuvenkar and cash prize of Rs 7000 while Vagator Boys were the recipient of late Babani Khorjuvenkar Trophy donated by Rayu Khorjuvenkar besides cash prize of Rs 5000.
Individual prizes for Tukaram Khorjuvenkar (first goal of final), Niranjan Khorjuvenkar (best goalkeeper), Jambino Drago (defender), Ramdas Mandrekar (forward), Param Chodnekar (rising star), Akhil Naik (youngest player), Datta Bhosle (veteran) and Starco Boys (best disciplined team) were also given by chief guest Jayesh Salgaonkar, chairman, North Goa Zilla Panchayat in the presence of Mukund Naik and Rayu Khorjuvenkar.
Earlier, Sandesh Khorjuvenkar, president welcomed the chief guest and other dignitaries and later proposed a vote of thanks.
