PANJIM: After missing out of ISL due to injury in previous seasons, Keenan Almeida will be eyeing to make a return to the top flight football as a Red Machines player following his absence from football due to injury.
The former ISL champion signed for Churchill Brothers FC, a club known to be a platform for revival of many players including Brandon Fernandes, Adil Khan etc.
“It’s nice to be back again on the pitch. Football is not just a profession, its a passion. And I am really excited to be playing again. I took the opportunity of playing for Churchill Brothers due to it being my home state and me having played for the team earlier,” expressed Keenan.
The 29-year-old will be a key to the Red Machines pursuit for their third I-League crown as his the lad knows the club philosophy having captained the side earlier in his career.
“We will try to show our attacking style but we also have to be very careful if we lose the ball,” Keenan said.
“The players who are not involved directly in the attack will have to try and recover the ball immediately. We are trying to find a different style than to just all-out attack, which is much more balanced,” he stated during the pre-match conference.
“I am thankful for the club and the president Churchill Alemao for giving me this opportunity of playing top level football once again. I will give my best and try and win the league for the club,” he concluded.
