He was fastest all through the weekend in Chennai clocking the fastest lap times right from the first practice session.
Keith qualified on pole position with a lap time of 2.02.726 ahead of Biren Pithawalla from Mumbai and VJ Senthil of Coimbatore.
Race day saw Keith get off to a perfect start leading the 23 car grid right from the start.
There was an incident on track which brought out the safety car but Keith kept his calm during the restart to maintain his lead and win the race comfortably ahead of Vinod and Ashish Ramaswamy of Red Rooster Racing. Keith Racing for Unimek is also the first Goan based team to win at the National Racing Championships with his father Vincy winning the tuner trophy.
Race two of the weekend was a reverse grid which meant the winner starts fourth on the grid. Keith had a good start moving up into second position on the first lap but was then hit from behind by Vinod which pushed him back to last position.
He however made his way up the 23 car grid to still finish at an impressive fourth position.
Vinod was penalized for causing the accident. Keith now leads the National Championship with 37 points with Anant Pithawalla from Mumbai in second position.
The next round of the championship will be held at the MMRT track Chennai on March 4 and 5. His aim is to win the National championship this year. Keith’s career has been supported by JA Motorsport, Race dynamics, Palmarinha Resorts and V Tamba.
