MAPUSA: Kelbai Sports Club registered a 4-1 win over Clube Sao Miguel De Taleigao in the 6th Edition of Vedanta Women’s league played at Duler stadium here on Saturday.
Kelbai eves were indeed a strong unit that dominated the entire first session and went into the breather with three goals cushion.
Donea Fernandes opened the account in the 26th minute who receiving a pass from Akshata Chougule scored with adroit placement 1-0.
As the match progressed Taleigao’s keeper Jaya Kankonkar brought two brilliant saves to thwart Anshika Gupta in one to one situation and a minute later paired Simran Narvekar strike for a corner.
However, the keeper could do very little to stop Simran Narvekar scoring two quick goals in the 40th and 41st minute from her superb individual brilliancy to make it 3-0.
In the injury time Taleigao eves had just one good attempt at the rival goal but Ashmisha Hadkonkar’s free kick rebounded off the crossbar.
On crossing ends, play was restricted to midfield play for the first twenty minutes where in the 66th minute Donea Fernandes darted inside the penalty box and scored at the first post to net her brace.
However, never say die spirit saw Taleigao pulled a goal back in the 72nd minute through substitute Blessica Rodrigues who beat the keeper at the first post 4-1.
Pratik Kutttikar was unlucky as her strike from inside the 6-yard box was blocked by Kelbai keeper Amisha.
Simran Narvekar of Kelbai eves received the best player award from the hands of Dr. Caetano Fernandes GFA’s President.
