PANJIM: Kelbai Sports Club won seven-goal thriller in the Goa Football Association U-14 League match as they beat Arpora Sporting Club, at Assonora Sports Complex, on Tuesday.
It was Arpora who scored the first in the fifth minute through P Sawant. After much probing, Kelbai managed to restore parity at the half-hour mark through Sagun Chodankar. However, Arpora replied quick as they took the lead back again through Shavir Mohammed in the 33rd minute. Arpora led 2-1 at the break.
Crossing over, Kelbai came back strongly and scored two quick goals through Sagun Chodankar, who scored his hat-trick and gave his team the lead for the first time in the match. Once up by a goal Kelbai scored their fourth in the 51st minute through Chirag Gaonkar. Arpora tried their best to get back into the game and managed to reduce to margin as Khaja B scored the third. Despite their efforts to find the equaliser, Arpora side’s attack was brilliantly pinned by Kelbai defence till the final whistle.
At Anjuna ground, Goan FC made the light work of Anjuna Gymkhana 8-1.
Rohan Mangannkar, Clison Furtado and Mervin Fernandes scored a brace each for the winners while Velrose Dias and Shlok Kane were the other scorers for the winning side. Nazir Ali was the lone scorer for Anjuna Gymkhana. The winners led 4-0 at the break.
