MAPUSA: Churchill Brothers Sports Club registered a tennis score 6-1 thumping win over Bardez Football Club in the Goa Professional League sixth round match organised by GFA, played at Duler Stadium, here, on Tuesday.
After Tuesday’s win, Churchill Brothers have 11 points from five matches, while Bardez FC stay on three points from six matches.
The demolition for the Red Machine was done through a brace by  Uttam Rai while  Nickson Castanha, Gilbert Oliveira, Vinil Poojary and Cyrus Noronha were the other scorers. Cho Lepcha got the consolation goal for Bardez FC
At the breather, the Bardez FC management felicitated the President, Vice President and all the Bardez executive committee members on being elected in the recent GFA’s election.
Churchill Bros started the match positively and took the lead in the very third minute through Uttam Rai who provided the finishing touches from a long ball by Vinil Poojary.
Vinil Poojary then scored a gem of a goal for Churchill Bros in the 29th minute when his curling shot found the top corner of the net with the keeper completely beaten, the move was initiated by Gilbert Oliveira to make it 2-0.
Bardez FC had no answer to the onslaught by Churchill Bros and conceded two more goals before half time to reduce any chance of coming back into the match.
U-20 Cyrus Noronha showed great footwork as he got past a host of defenders and the keeper to slot the ball into the net while Uttam Rai made it 4-0 with a firm header from a cross by Vinil Poojary.
Crossing ends, Churchill Bros did not sit back and went out and scored two more goals through substitute Nickson Castanha who was shown a straight red card by the referee for handling the ball from entering into the net in the 83rd minute.
Nickson Castanha got his goal from a free-kick which found its way past the Bardez wall and into the net with the keeper stranded while there a was a lucky goal as Gilbert Oliveira’s shot deflected his leg and entered the net to make the score 6-0.
However, in the 83rd minute, Nickson needlessly stopped the ball from entering the net with the keeper beaten to give a penalty which was awarded to Bardez FC by referee Tjeas Nagvenkar. ONG Lepcha who stepped forward coolly dispatched the ball to make it 6-1.
Churchill Bros were further reduced to nine men when Sonam Bhutia was also sent off by the referee for his second booking offence in added time to take out the gloss from what was a comfortable win.
