PANJIM: Kendriya Vidhyalaya INS Mandovi won their match by 8 wickets while Don Bosco High School won five wickets in the Germania inter-school cricket tournament at the Panjim Gymkhana grounds in the city.
Kendriya Vidhyalaya beat K.B Hedgewar High School by 8 wickets piling up a paltry total of 127 runs for the loss of four wickets in their allotted 20 overs, after winning the toss and putting Dr. K.B Hedgewar High School to bat first.
Mohit Borkar scored 36 runs for Hedgewar while Niraj Shirodkar and Mihir Kundaikar contributed with 10 and 17 runs respectively
Kendriya Vidhyalaya’s most successful bowler turned out to be Ravi Kiran Sriram who took two wickets for a total of 30 runs while Shameek D’ Silva and Jeffrin Joseph
bagged a wicket each for 16 and 22 runs respectively.
In reply Kendriya Vidhyalaya scored 130 runs for the loss of just 2 wickets in 19.3 overs.
Their ace batsmen lived up to expectations with Omkar Mandrekar hitting a neat 45 while Ravi K. Sriram scored a useful 39 runs. Abhed Suresh with 13 runs and Shameer D’ Silva with 10 runs were also amongst the runs for Kendriya Vidhyalaya.
For K.B Hedgewar Mihir Kundaikar bagged 1 wicket for 15 runs while Salil Bandodkar took a wicket for 22 runs.
Don Bosco win by 5 wkts
In the second match Don Bosco High Scool, Panjim, beat St. Rita H.S. Colvale, by five wickets. St. Rita High School won the toss and elected to bat.
St. Rita High School put on board 106 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Piyush Yadav with 18 runs, Sitar Shetye with 19 runs and Yogesh Kautankar with 17 runs were amongst the runs for St Rita.
For Don Bosco Rohan Shetty spear headed the bowling bagging three wickets for a very economical 11 runs while Shanu Vantamuri offered good support bagging two wickets for a total of 22 runs. Paras Volvoikar (23 runs) and Mohammed Barkalullaha (18) assisted taking a wicket each.
Don Bosco High School taking the field scored 107 for five wickets in 19.3 overs. Triroy Kubal with 30 runs top scored with Shanu Vantamuri on 22 runs and Bijay Oli with 15 runs were at the crease not out, when victory was theirs. Girish Shanbag with 11 runs was also helpful.
For St. Rita High School Sitar Shetye bagged three wickets for 14 runs while Yogesh Kautankar claimed two wickets for 19 runs, but was not enough to avoid defeat.
