PANJIM: Khorlim XI and Sparkling Stars Association registered wins in their resepective encounters of the Goa Cricket Association Division A (North) on Sunday.
While Khorlim XI recorded a huge 146 runs win over Goa Sports Academy at GCA ground, Porvorim, Sparkling Stars Association defeated Paramount Sports Club by 85 runs at Panjim Gymkhana ground.
Batting first Sparkling Stars lost early wickets but Swapnil YS’s 62 and Shivprakash Hiremath (34) gave some stability to their innings before Vaibhav Kuribagi smashed a blistering 76 consisting 12 boundaries and one over the rope to take his side’s to 262.
Paramount’s Om Fadte took three wickets giving away just 38 runs in nine overs while Ajit Bagadi and Sriram Mahashikhare picked two wickets each.
In reply, Sanat Mhapne’s five for 21 bundled the opponents for just 177 runs. Vaibhav Kuribagi, Zubair and Yash K were the other wicket takers for the winning side.
At Porvorim, Ninad Pawaskar (76) and Hemant Kumar (49) helped Khorlim record a huge total of 291 for the loss of nine wickets.
Trijoy Kubal was the pick of the bowler with the figures of 3/55. Kalpesh Salgaonkar and Arjun Morajkar picked two wickets each.
Chasing the huge target, GCA lost wickets at regular intervals and were bundled out for just 145 runs in 32 overs. Trijoy Kubal top scored for the losing side with 32 runs.
Shahid picked four wickets for the winning side while Saniket Palkar had two wickets to his name.
