MARGAO: The King’s School from Sao Jose de Areal and Fatima Convent School from Margao emerged as South District champs in boys and girls categories respectively in the U-14 inter-school chess tournament organised by Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, at Fatorda indoor hall.
The King’s school won with 9.5 points while Deepvihar High School from Mormugao secured second spot. In the girls section, Fatima Convent emerged winners with 10 points while A J D Almeida High School got the second place.
Edrick Vaz, Atharv Sawal, Shreyas Sajan and Cleo Fernandes represented King’s HS while Ashwini Mhatre, Danielle Xavier, Alysa Coutinho, Chaira Cabral and Shravani Naik represented Fatima Convent School.
All the winners and runners schools have now qualified for State championship.
