PANJIM: A total of 80 trainees were thrilled to be vested with the bright orange and black kits of the Alila Diwa-GFDC Utorda football development centre at the kit distribution ceremony, at the SAG ground, Utorda, recently.
Chief guest Dr Rufino Monteiro, Chairman of Goa Football Development Council gave away the kits in the presence of guest of honour Kamaljit Singh, Executive Assistant Manager of Alila Resorts, Majorda; Rashmi PR manager Alila Diwa; Agnelo Pereira, President of United Club of Utorda; GFDC officials Kenneth Fernandes, Caitano, Iyno D’Souza and Utorda GFDC committee members Joaquim Fernandes and Lynette Vaz; Anjulo Fernandes, Francis Morais, Ligorio Braganza, Jose Fernandes Sultan, Agnelo Pereira, Pascoal Soares and Trindade Fernandes.
Jaime Carvalho and Sebastian Pereira, footballers of yesteryears were special invitees on the occasion.
Dr Rufino while speaking at the occasion asked the trainees to take full benefit of the facilities including the nutrition provided and urged the centre to draft in more girls so that the girls of the area would also benefit from the program. Thanking the parents for their enormous support he urged them to engage in community development activities.
Kamaljit Singh pledged his full support for the activities taken up at the centre and hoped to see some of the youngsters grow up to be stars of Indian football.

Secretary Trindade Fernandes thanked the management of Alila Diwa Resorts and GFDC for sponsoring and participating in the grassroots football initiative taken in the villages of Utorda, Majorda and Calata.
