PANJIM: Vedanta Sesa Goa in collaboration with Goa Football Association (GFA) kicked off a 5-day long ‘World Coaches Program’ by the Netherlands Football Federation (KNVB) at Duler Stadium in Mapusa.
Spearheaded by Dutch Football expert Bert Zuurman, the program aims to equip the football league coaches with advanced skills which will provide significant impetus to football in the state.
The World Coaches program is the international training program started by the KNVB in 2009. It aims to train football coaches in their own neighbourhood to inspire and guide children on a sporting and social level.
The program that is based on many years of international experience of the KNVB in the field of coaching and training and has till date reached out to nearly 15,000 coaches across the world.
The first session of the five-day program commenced with an interactive theory class explaining about the basics of football. Further, the session progressed to the practical part of it.
The program is providing one of a kind experience for over 20 coaches to further hone their skills and become a better football professional.
Bert Zuurman, the 46-year-old Dutch football expert comes with vast experience and holds a professional UEFA B/C license along with a UEFA A Youth license. He was previously the head coach of Dutch side PEC Zwolle Women.
Bert Zuurman said, “I would like to thank everyone including GFA and Vedanta for coming with such a good initiative. We have a diversity of experienced coaches as well as newcomers in this group and I believe that apart from the knowledge imparted from our side, they will get to learn a lot from amongst themselves.”
