MERCES: Kumar Ward thumped Mesta Bhatt 9-3 in the Pogo Boys Cup, at Our Lady of Merces church ground, on Tuesday.
Ciril John scored the opener followed by Rishikesh Pilankar who doubled the lead. Ajay scored a hat-trick to make it 5-0 for Kumar Ward.
Mesta Bhatt refused to give up and pushed forward as Myron pulled a goal back to make it 5-1.
William scored a screamer to make it 5-2.
Kumar Ward continued with the attacking game-play as Ajay and Shambhu found the net to increase the lead to 7-2 before the break.
Mesta Bhatt tried their best to restrict t heir opponents from making in-roads with good defending but could’nt hold on till the final whistle as Shambhu and Vidhesh added their name to the scoresheet.
Audhut managed to find a consolation goal to take the final score to 9-3.
