MAPUSA: Sesa Football Academy scored a huge 4-0 win over rivals Dunes Sports Club Mandrem in the GFA’s U-18 League, played at Duler Stadium, here on Monday.
Sesa retain their place at the top of the league table with 13 points off five matches, while Dunes stay at six points off five league matches.
In a one way traffic, Sesa took the lead in the 20th minute of play when Kunal Salgaonkar leapt high above his marker to nod in Dylan Fernandes’ corner kick, 1-0.
Dunes came close to level terms minutes later however Vidhesh Sawant saw his low grounder being kept away by Sesa keeper Ronal Gaonkar.
At the half hour mark, Sesa made some dangerous moves but failed to score time and again. Vishnu Gosavi saw his effort from inside the Dunes goal area being brilliantly pushed away by Dunes custodian and then minutes later Kunal’s firm header struck the horizontal bar.
Changing ends Sesa did not waste any time and within two minutes got into the act of scoring when Kunal got hold off Lionel D’Souza’s pass and charged into the Dunes citadel before slotting the ball home, 2-0.
In the 58th minute of play Sesa keeper once again came with a splendid save to push away Alrich D’Souza’s long range effort.
Couple of minutes later, Kunal managed to score his hat-trick when on collecting the ball from Gavin Soares he got the better of Dunes keeper and slammed the ball into the back of the nets, 3-0.
Daniel Lobo who came off the bench in place of Kunal Salgaocar proved equal to the task as he kept the rival defenders on their toes with his swift runs. In the last quarter of the match his one such move paid off as he ran into the rival camp and after getting the better of the defender sent a pinpoint cross to Vishnu Gosavi who made no mistake to guide the ball home, 4-0.
