SHILLONG: Shillong Lajong will have no other choice but to go all-out to take home advantage and pocket full points when they host fourth-placed Dempo Sports Club in an I-League football match at JN Sports Complex, on Sunday and consolidate their position in the points’ table.

Lajong, who have not had a good going of late, need to improve their defense line alongwith their striking ability. Of late, the forwards looked to be seriously out of sort.

At present Lajong are at the 12th spot with 11 points and they are a point ahead of second last placed United Sikkim who have 10 points.

On the other hand, Dempo are also going through a difficult time with most of the players nursing their injuries. “In the last few matches we are going through troubled times because of injuries. But we have a bunch of young boys who are out to prove themselves,” said Armando Colaco, head coach.

The defending champions are now placed fourth with 27 points in their kitty. “We have lots of matches to go and there is a lot of time. We are enjoying the fourth place right now. However, it doesn’t mean we are out of race for the championship,” added Colaco.“Whenever we have come to Shillong, we have played good football and we won’t disappoint soccer fans this time either. It will be good if we earn three points, but we will be satisfied with a draw as well. If we do not get anything, we won’t be crestfallen as this is our away match. As they say, anything can happen in football,” stated Colaco.

The kick-off is at 2 p.m.
