PANJIM: IM Elect Leon Mendonca was felicitated by the Tiswadi Taluka Chess Association after he achieved all the three required norms in Serbia, recently.
Leon’s present rating is 2427. He achieved his 1st IM norm at 3rd Saturday 103 Serbia, 2nd IM norm at GM Round Robin Paracin 2019 Serbia, 3rd IM norm at Third Saturday 109 Serbia and 4th IM norm at Mix Za Norme Third Saturday Serbia. Only three norms are required for the IM title.
He will be awarded International Master ( IM) title by FIDE ( World Chess Federation) at 2nd quarter PB 2019 which will be held from June 29-30, Baku, Azerbaijan.
He will be the second IM of Goa after IM Rohan Ahuja and also the youngest from Goa.
