VASCO: Tilak Maidan was plunged into darkness when the floodlights failed during the Churchill Bros and Mohun Bagan clash on Saturday.
Churchill Brothers FC were leading 2-1 when the lights went off in the 80th minute.
Fans pulled out their mobile phones to try and help but the game was halted by the referee until the lights came back.
The generator failure saw the light went off for nearly 40 minutes in the Port Town.
According to the officials, if the floodlights wouldn’t lit in an hours time, the remaining minutes of the play would have been played on the next day.
However, the lights were on and the game resumed wherein Churchill Bros managed to protect their slender lead and inflict season’s first defeat on Mohun Bagan
