Liston, Jaison shine as Salgaocar Jrs FC hit six past Holy Cross SC

The duo score a brace each to give their side 6-1 win over Arambol; Immaculate Conception SC hold Goa Velha SC 1-1

AMBELIM: Salgaocar FC got the better of Holy Cross Sports Club, Arambol 6-1 in theGFA First Division League match, played at Ambelim ground, on Friday.
Liston Colaco and Jaison Barbosa scored a brace each for the winners. 
The first clear chance of the match fell to Salgaocar’s U-20 Liston Colaco when he was fed by Lalit Seriad from the centre, but the former’s aerobatic effort hit the Holy Cross post and came back into the play.
Minutes later, Holy Cross were lucky once again as Salgaocar’s Lalit curl shot hit the cross bar and went out of play. However, Salgaocar FC broke the deadlock in the seventh minute through Liston Colaco’s free-kick which crashed in the far corner of the nets, 1-0.
Salgaocar were gifted an own goal when Vivek Naik guiding the ball into his own nets, 2-0.
Salgaocar made regular inroads through Ronaldo Oliveira but Jayesh Chopedkar, the valuable asset in the defence line of Holy cross tackled his moves intelligently.
In the 15th minute, Liston completed his brace. There after Leslie Brito tried a solo effort for Holy Cross but his move was easily tackled by Salgaocar defender Saurab Patil. Salgaocar FC led 3-0 at break.
Crossing over, Holy Cross pulled a goal back in the 51st minute through Dalesh Pednekar.
Salgaocar thundered more attacks and scored three more goals. Ronaldo Oliveira scored in the 65th minute, before Denil Rebello added his name on the scoresheet to make it 5-1 in the 79th minute. Jaison Barbosa complete his brace and scored the team’s sixth late into the game.
In another match played at Government Village School playground, Cuncolim, Immaculate Conception Sports Club (ICSC)Paroda and Goa Velha Sports Club played out a 1-1 draw. 
Goa Velha Sports Club came close in breaking the deadlock early in the game but striker Nestor Dias’ desperate attempt from inside the box went over the bar.
Couple of minutes later, Goa Velha Sports Club had a chance to surge head in the 25th minute but Nestor Dias header was well collected by Paroda goalkeeper Presley  Mascarenhas off well measured cross from Nikesh Mangueshkar.
The deadlock was broken in the 33rd minute when Nestor Dias who was in thick of action punished the rival goalkeeper Presley Mascarenhas off Fintan D’Costa assist. 
In the second half, Goa Velha Sports Club continued to enjoy the better ball possession and unleashed a barrage of attacks but their forwards lacked sharpness.
Samir found Nestor Dias on the flanks and the former ballooned over from close range. Paroda team who were on the receiving end at the first half had a chance to level terms but Mariano Rebello well executed free kick was well blocked by Goa Velha goalkeeeper.
Just when it seemed that Goa Velha SC were walking with three points, ICSC Paroda midfielder Mariano Rebello spared the blushes with a thump header at the stroke of final whistle to equalise 1-1.
