CURTORIM: Sao Jose de Areal moved into the quarter-finals of the Wilred Leisure Cup, defeating Varca Sports Club 4-0, at Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs ground, Curtorim on Thursday.
Sao Jose de Areal were in thick of action in front of above 400 spectators. Areal’s coach Anthony gave extra task to Liston D’Costa to control the midfield and forward lines and the plan worked with Liston giving his best on several occasions as Areal won by four goals.
Monty Valarades scored the first goal for Areal in the 16th minute.
Four minutes later, Liston D’Costa made it 2-0 with a neat placement.
Varca Sports Club tried hard to come back in the second half but Sao Jose de Areal defenders were a hard nut to crack.
Later, Sao Jose de Areal pumped in two more quick goals through Aggie and Liston D’Costa in the 50th and 56th minutes respectively.
