MARGAO: SSC Loutolim booked a place in the quarter-finals defeating Panchawadi Sports club 4-2 via tie-breaker in the pre-quarters of the Fr. Agnelo Youth inter-village football tournament organized by Fr. Agnelo Youth Sports Club, Paroda at Panchayat grounds, Avedem, Paroda.

Both the teams played attacking soccer in the first half but the score line read nil-nil at the break.

After the interval, Loutolim got off to a perfect start and surged ahead in the 9th minute of the second half when Gelson Fernandes’ curling kick hit the back of the net.

Down by a goal the players of Panchawadi rallied and pulled a goal back through Glenton Fernandes.

Spurred by the equalizer Panchawadi attacked and created panic in the rival defence but Samuel D’Mello, goalkeeper of Loutolim showed fine reflexes and saved two sure goals from the boots of Orlando D’Cruz and Francisco Godinho to maintain the score line 1-1 till the final whistle.

In the ensuing tie-breaker, Oswald Dias, Zico Rodrigues and Ronaldo Dias scored for SSC Loutolim while only Francisco Godinho succeeded in scoring for Panchawadi sports Club.
