RAIA: Madgaon Royals defeated Mathgram Warriors by 94 runs in the Alcon GSB Unity Cup T20 cricket tournament organised by Goa GSB Sports and Charitable Trust in association with Goa Saraswat Samaj, at the Margao MCC ground, on Saturday.
In the second match of the day, Sinq Rangers defeated Knight Archers by 36 runs. In the morning session, Madgaon Royals scored 192/8 in their allotted 20 overs. They then skittled Mathgram Warriors’ for paltry 98 runs.
For the winning team, Man-of-the-Match Aditya Dalal showed all-round brilliance. He contributed 36 runs with the bat and took 3 for 5 with the bowling. This was Madgaon Royals’ first win in the tournament while Mathgram suffered their second consecutive defeat.
In the second match of the day, Sinq Rangers posted 147 for seven on the back of a 51-run partnership for the third wicket between Ved Mahambre and Sanat Mhapne. They then restricted The Knight Archers to 111 for 9 to seal the win. Sanat Mhapne, who scored 39 runs, was adjudged man of the match. It was The Sinq Rangers’ second straight win in the tournament.
